Now, these Sons of The Dolls are back in business with their strongest batch of sleazy barroom rock \u2018n\u2019 roll yet.<\/p>\n<p>Steeped in boozy swagger and Stonesy git-down, the eight songs on \u201cMess You Up\u201d do exactly that. Joe \u201cJJ\u201d Jennings and company mix their Johnny Thunders with SoCal punk\u2019n\u2019roll from the glory days of The Humpers and The Drago - Rev. Norm, Razorcakens and add a spritz of Buzzcocks\u2019 melodic attack. They come blazing out of the gate with dual-guitar overdrive and thrashing rhythm on \u201cBuilt to Blast\u201d, segue into hooky-as-hell barstool anthems like \u201cTen Cent Beer Night\u201d and \u201cLost Souls Pub\u201d, then celebrate the miracle of life with uplifting ditties like \u201cDead in the Water\u201d, \u201cDeprecation Blues\u201d and \u201cSinking Feeling\u201d. This is one fun, raging garage-punk platter that\u2019ll spend some serious time on your turntable.<\/p>\n<p>\"This group is rubber band tight, with the drums and bass setting up a gnawing, rapid-fire percolation upon which the tangy mayonnaise of rock\u2019n\u2019roll is slathered. It\u2019s kinda like as if somebody quit CH3 and got replaced by someone from the Devil Dogs, or<span class=\"bcTruncateMore\">\u00a0maybe Cheetah Chrome... The guitar often works smarter and not harder here: Instead of just continually spraying testicular excretions everywhere, the guitar is occasionally used as a clever embellishment, almost like the Buzzcocks\" -- Rev.
