The Vaxxines- S/T LP. Diving into Cali’s rich punk history? A great not so new band releasing excellent music is Oakland’s The Vaxxines formed out of the ashes of the Pathogens and featuring a core member line-up with roots in Strychnine from the mid-'90s to mid-2000's; and Econochrist who were heavily active back in the early '90s. The Vaxxines debut album delivers a raw blast of Nor Cal snot-punk, grit spewing with infectious hooks and relentless energy. Frontwoman Chelsea’s distinctive, commandeering voice channels outrage and defiance laced with a faint sense of hope. And joining Chelsea, the entire band tears through this album with machine gun velocity and a brash, uncompromising attitude harmoniously blending elements of old-school East Bay Punk with a fresh, modern edge. Fans of Grimple, Blatz, Retching Red, Dead Kennedys, Rancid and Tilt will dig. The albums cover was designed by legendary collage artist Winston Smith and the LP also includes an accompanying two-sided 12" x 24" Full Color Gatefold insert including an additional collage piece by Winston Smith.
