The Oxys- A Date With The Oxys LP. Austin’s The Oxys hit the scene with a pretty untouchable line up including members who’ve done time in such legendary Punk bands as the Dead Boys, Sylvain Sylvain and the Sylvains and the Bulemics. On top of that Oxys guitarist, Jason “Ginchy” Kottwitz, wrote many of these songs during his extensive 6 year run playing alongside Dead Boys lead guitarist Cheetah Chrome, amid Cheetahs burgeoning solo career. So ya the band members have roots and these songs definately have history including one of them being written directly with Sylvain Sylvain (of the New York Dolls) during a 6 week stay in Austin. And given their impeccable pedigree, it shouldn’t be a surprise that these motherfuckers come guitars blazin’ marrying a bulletproof combination of sleazy slash ‘n burn riffs to 10 rip roarin’ sledgehammer Punk tunes with a revved-up Motor City flair. I’m talking real deal, down-in-the-dirt, sleaze soaked Rock ‘n Roll that brings to mind the primal raunch of the Dolls and the Joneses with the brute, sonic attack of the Dead Boys and the Heartbreakers . A true rebel-sprit, classic here, carrying on in the same tattered L.A.M.F. tradition as fellow guitar-slingin’ anti-hero's like Johnny Thunders, Freddy Lynxx, Kevin K, Jeff Dahl and Ricky Rat. A pretty epic collection housed in a slick looking LP Jacket including eye-popping artwork by Alex Hagen with lyrics-sheet insert included.
